REWIRE project presentation in Lion DC project Closing Conference

LION DC project Consortium organised a conference that was held online between June 7-8, 2021. The 2-day event was conceived as a closing conference celebrating the end of the LION DC project.

In addition to the multiple EU Organisations’ representatives invited as keynote speakers who set the tone of the event on each day, several EU-funded projects were also presented on the second day.

On this occasion, Mr. Andrius Bambalas, REWIRE Project Coordinator from Mykolas Romeris University in Lithuania, had the chance to present the project to the online audience represented by about 60 participants.

Mr. Bambalas talked about how the world has been continuously going through a digitalisation process, which has progressed more rapidly due to COVID-19. Within that digitalisation process, cybersecurity is, with no doubt, an indispensable aspect. Therefore, the cybersecurity skills situation in the European Union was presented, pointing out how member countries work on their own frameworks, but there is no consistency across the EU. In consequence, cybersecurity skills are not transferable across the countries, which makes it difficult to establish a single-market or development of specialisation.

Mr. Bambalas highlighted the aim of the REWIRE project, that is to set up a sustainable sectoral alliance to develop specific innovative instruments to address skills shortages and gaps; to match skills demand and supply; and to define a new common Cybersecurity Skills Framework at the European level.
