WFCP’s Cyber And Data Security And Social Engineering affinity group

The World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics (WFCP) and TKNIKA (Basque VET Applied Research Centre) held the 2022 WFCP World Congress between the 15th and 17th of June 2022 in Donostia-San Sebastián (Basque Country, Spain). EfVET had the great pleasure of being present in this event and, as a partner of the REWIRE project, also attended the Cyber and Data Security and Social Engineering Affinity Group session.

Affinity Groups are important groups within the WFCP that bring together their members to share and learn about specific and relevant topics to professional, technical, and vocational education and training. In particular, the Cyber and Data Security and Social Engineering Affinity Group uses in-country networks to feed labour market intelligence (LMI), employer views and industry practice into the group.

The session started with an overview and introduction to the Affinity Group, followed by a presentation by Sage Lal, Director of Curriculum at Burton and South Derbyshire College, on “Embedding vendors/employers and LMI into our curriculum”. Afterwards, Katy Broomfield, Head of Services for Learners and Customer Experience at Burton and South Derbyshire College, introduced an outline of their plans to adapt their learning resource centre to become the heart of the college.

The last intervention was for Engr. Rahman O. Mogaji, Member, Ministerial Task Team on TVET Federal for Ministry of Education in Nigeria, who talked about their plans to develop a centralized e-campus hub, which would consist of an augmented and virtual reality collaborative platform where learning, teaching and skills development will be digitally available, accessible and affordable.

Before the end of this session, attendees had the chance to discuss future opportunities and learn from each other, through the exchange of information, experiences and goals. Taking this opportunity, EfVET introduced the REWIRE project to the participants and had the chance to share the results obtained within the project and disseminate the work being done by the consortium.
